From the 18th-21st of February, our fencers had competed in the Novices Fencing Championships.

In the Men's Epee Individual event, we had a double podium finish where Bryan Mendoza Bathan Warl fenced his way through the direct elimination table and emerged as the event's overall champion! All of his bouts that day were all well-fought and he was truly deserving of the win! Teammate Matthew Cheung was not one to be messed with either, he progressed to the semi-finals out of such a big field and won himself a Bronze Medal!

Lauren Lai fenced her way into the Semi-Finals, displaying great composure and fencing along the way, winning herself a Bronze Medal in the Women's Epee Individual Event!

In the Women's Sabre Individual Event, Victoria Fox started the day off strong and fenced hard all the way into the finals where she eventually lost with the narrowest of margins clinching the silver medal. Special mention goes out to Ashley Seah who finished with a commendable Top 8 placing.

In the Epee Team events, SGF achieved double gold! The first gold came from the Men's Epee Team where out of 19 teams, they managed to fence all the way into the finals where they won their opponents in the finals with a close score of 45-43. Throughout the event, the boys displayed teamwork and fighting spirit and we cannot be prouder of them!

The second gold came from the Women's Epee Team! Focused and determined, they fenced their way into the finals. In the finals, it was a closely-knit match in terms of score but our Epee Girls' fighting spirit and determination was the pushing factor behind their win!

Congratulations to all our fencers that took part in this competition! All of you had fought hard in all your bouts and regardless of the result, we are proud of you!

Special shout out to those who came down to the competition venue to lend their support to our fencers!

For the 3rd TFF Minime Series 2017 that took place from the 4th-5th February, our girls travelled to Thailand and had attained results that were nothing short of amazing!

Wong J-min who had fenced in the Under-14 Girl's Epee category fought hard throughout the day and earned herself a silver! What is amazing is that the very next day, she managed to recompose herself and come back stronger to clinch the title in the Under-17 Girl's Epee category! Furthermore, her journey to the top spot had not been the easiest as she fought and came back in the quarter-finals with a trailing score of 14-11! J-min showed true determination and resilience throughout the competition and we cannot be more proud of her!

Good job J-min!

In the Under-12 Girls Sabre category, we have Victoria Fox who won a silver medal after a hard-fought bout in the finals. Throughout the finals, she never wavered in her resolve and she is truly deserving of a medal!

Good job Victoria!

Congratulations to all our fencers!
