International Touché Minime 2020

Our fencers headed over to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over the first weekend of February 2020 and we were represented in the Under 12 Boy's Epee Individual, Under 12 Girl's Epee Individual, Under 15 Boy's Epee Individual & Under 12 Mixed Epee Team Event.

In the Under 12 Boy's Epee Individual Event, it was an SGF Final, with Vittorio Poli & Jonas Lim fencing off for the Gold Medal. After an intense and nail biting bout, it was Vittorio who won the Gold Medal after scoring the priority point. Javian Choong finished well in 6th place, he fenced beautifully from the start of pools, but met Jonas in the quarter-finals where they both put up a great display of fencing.

In the Under 12 Girl's Epee Individual Event, Ashley Mae Harrison displayed strong character and resilience, fencing her way to the finals and clinching the Silver Medal after a close and well fought final bout.

In the Under 15 Boy's Epee Individual Event, Matthew Pang finished in 6th place after putting up a strong display and fighting sprit throughout the competition.

In the Under 12 Mixed Epee Team Event, our fencers collectively put up a strong and dominant performance in all the bouts to claim a well deserved Gold Medal.

Novices Fencing Championships 2020

On 18th-19th January, our fencers participated in the Novices Fencing Championships 2020.

Congratulations to Zjien Ng Yee Sheng (GDL) for winning Silver in the Men’s Épée Individual event. Zjien won all his bouts convincingly in pools and was seeded in 1st place for the direct elimination round. He showed great fighting sprit and determination but settled for a Silver after a well and hard fought bout in the finals.

Special mentions to Chan Jonas Ze Xian and Choong Julian Jace for finishing in Top 8. Both fencers put up a good fight but missed out on the podium by just a single point.

Great job to all fencers for achieving these results from a pool of 100 fencers.

In the Women’s Épée Individual event, Choong Zi Cheng (GDL) put up a dominant performance and clinched the Gold medal! She had a flying start in the pools, winning all her bouts convincingly, seeding in 1st place for the direct elimination rounds. She then won all her bouts, notably the finals where she won it with a score of 15-5 to claim the Gold medal.

Wong Shi Xuan made it to the podium too, claiming the Bronze medal after a fantastic performance where she missed out in reaching the finals by just a single point.

Hwa Chong Institution Invites 2020

Our fencers participated in the HCI Invites over the weekend of January 2020 and brought back fantastic results.

In the Women's Epee Individual Event, Ona Koning fenced brilliantly. She displayed strong courage and determination fencing to the finals where she settled for a Silver after a close final bout.

Congratulations to Choong Zi Cheng for making it to the podium with her teammate, Ona. She showed strong resilience and fenced all the way to the semi finals, achieving Bronze.

Special mentions to Carol Lee for finishing in 6th place as well!
